Film #1: Seoul Station (2016)

Seoul Station is about a zombie apocalypse that happened in South Korea which first infected an old man. It is directed and written by Yeon Sang Ho who is also the director of the movie "Train to Busan" both in the same year of 2016. Soon, the virus infected almost the whole country. Citizens are running away for their lives to be safe and not get infected by the zombie virus. This movie is a mixed of the thriller and few parts in the comedy genre. A film that is 100% approved by Rotten Tomatoes from 12 movie reviews.

There is a scene where a man saw the old man that got his neck hurt and is bleeding a lot, he went around asking for help to cure the old man. He went to nearby clinic to ask for help from a nurse to seek services. She decided to help even though the facility is full by asking one of the patients that is drinking alcohol in the room politely to leave the facility with some medications that she has packed. He even got hit by the patient. He feels bad looking at an old man suffering in pain. He went to a nearby pharmacy to get some painkillers for the old man with his own money without asking for money in return from the old man. He even cried when he found out that he died when he went out to get medicine. When he came back with help from the station, the old man had gone missing. He went around to search for him, worried about his well being due to his injury. This makes me think that he is actually a nice and kind person inside.

There are scenes that shows that Hye Sun and Ki Woong love each other. When she was trapped in the jail cell, she voices out Ki Woong's name saying that she is in trouble and she does not know what to do in that situation. When they are connected through the phone, Ki Woong is always crying, knowing that she is safe all by herself. When they are reunited at Apartment Darrim, knowing that Suk Gyu is actually Hye Sun's previous boss for prostitution services, he was trying to protect her by using a knife, but eventually got slit at the throat by Suk Gyu. This makes me realised that not all relationships are perfect, each couple fights and quarrels with each other.

There is one part for comic relief during the intense apocalypse, in the subway, Hye Sun and an old man was trying to get through the gates to the other side of the station. One overweight lady pops out, with her eyes opened wide, running towards them. While she was running, the old man got stuck in between the gates and the floor due to his bulging belly trying to get through. This created some humor and relief during the movie. The lady got crazy due to the situation the city is in, asking everyone to just die, laughing away and leaving. She just can not believe that she is going to die.

The first scene that I dislike is when Ki Woong just realised that the man that he's been following around without knowing his intentions, who claims to be Hye Sun's father but actually he isn't but her previous pimp. How can the boyfriend not know what does her girlfriend's father look like? Even though he has not met her father yet, but at least I think she would have shown him how does her parents look like. For example, my boyfriend has not met my father in person yet, but he has seen photos that I have showed him how he looks like. Ki Woong is so gullible that he believed that Suk Gyu is Hye Sun's father when he first met him, posing as a customer who wants to deal with her girlfriend.

There is a scene where Hye Sun went to the cyber cafe to meet her boyfriend and found out that Ki Woong is trying to sell prostitution services using her girlfriend's photos. When he said that even though he have a part time job, it would not pay the bills or the rent or to make ends meet. He could take several part time jobs to help with the rent. He even taught Hye Sun how to steal her client's money without engaging into sexual intercourse. I also disliked the fact that Ki Woong hit Hye Sun just because she does not want to be in the prostitution world again. It shows that he is also a short-temper guy. Anything that does not go his way, he gets frustrated and angry. With Hye Sun not wanting to help, he got stressed and said he wanted to end the relationship with her girlfriend, leaving her at the side road crying alone, where he should have comfort her. Hye Sun could also get herself a job to help Ki Woong with the money too, which she didn't, maybe due to the fact of the social norms in South Korea is that women in South Korea should be stay-at-home wives/mother and men should be the breadwinner in the household.
